Voice Mail and Voice Mail Features

**Starting in fiscal year 2009-2010, Basic Voicemail will be included in the line rate.**

Coming April 2nd, 2009 - New Voicemail System

Voice mail is offered to UNL Faculty and Staff for only $1.50* a month, which includes the following call features: Call Forwarding No Answer, and Message Waiting notification.


To Access your Voice Mail:
  • Lift handset and dial #86 or 2-7200 from a campus phone.(472-7200 off-campus)
  • Follow the recorded prompts.

The service previously known as MobilePath, now known as FindMe FollowMe, is available free of charge.

With the introduction of the new voice mail system, an enhanced service is also available. It's called Unified Messaging, and here's what it can do for you.

What is UM, what does UM do and why would I want it?


Unified Messaging simplifies everyday communications by letting you manage all of your messages using a PC or a telephone. This means you spend less time retrieving and managing your messages and more time doing your job. When traveling, you can access and retrieve all types of messages via one or more interfaces (such as computer, phone, etc.) regardless of how they arrived -- whether by phone, fax or e-mail. With UM, you choose how you want to communicate. UM provides a means to receive faxes in your e-mail inbox 24 hours a day.

UM service allows you to:
  • Gather all your messages from home, office and mobile phones into one mailbox by using a PC, telephone, PDA or Web browser.
  • Listen to e-mail messages over the phone via text-to-speech conversion and reply instantly.
  • Send and receive fax messages with a PC.
  • Reply to e-mail messages by creating a voicemail message that the system attaches to an e-mail message.
  • Reply in the "medium" of choice, allowing you to use the application and device which is most convenient for you.
  • Work with compound messages, such as forwarding an e-mail or fax message with a voice introduction, or embedding voice messages into e-mails.
  • Notify your cell phone or alternate extension of all message activity in your mailbox.

Unified Messaging will eventually do all this in response to your voice commands, as well as not key presses. This upgrade is planned for this summer and will cost only $1 extra.

Optional Features You Can Order:

Access to E-mail
No cost to you, but you do need to request activation of this feature via Centrex Telephone Services

Call Forwarding Universal
Cost:  $1.00 per month

Forwards your incoming calls to any telephone number that you choose or your voice mailbox.

1.) Lift handset and dial *72, you will hear the special feature dial tone. 
2.) Dial the number to which your calls will be forwarded (Remember to dial 9 for off-campus.) 
3.) You will hear two beeps of confirmation. 
4.) Hang-up. 

To cancel Call Forwarding Universal: 

1.) Lift handset and dial #72. 
2.) Listen for confirmation tone. 
3.) Hang-up. 
To check the status of call forwarding, lift your handset and dial *72. You will hear an error message if call forwarding has already been activated, or the special dial tone if it has not.

To verify the telephone number that your calls are being forwarded to, dial your own number from your telephone. Your call should ring at the telephone number that you previously programmed on your phone.

You may still place calls from your telephone while call forwarding is activated.
  

Call Forwarding Busy to Voice Mail
Cost:  $1.00 per month

Forwards your calls to your voice mailbox when your line is busy. This feature will not work in conjunction with call waiting. University Communications will program this feature for you. No special programming is required by you.
